FAQ
A wedding celebrant is a professional who crafts and leads personalised, non-religious (or a blend of beliefs) wedding ceremonies that can take place anywhere, at any time. Unlike registrars or clergy, they work closely with the couple to create a deeply personal ceremony, including writing their vows, selecting readings, and incorporating meaningful traditions, ensuring the ceremony truly reflects their unique love story and values.
A humanist celebrant conducts exclusively non-religious ceremonies whereas an independent celebrant can offer complete flexibility and incorporate religious or spiritual elements.
A registrar is a legal official who conducts the legal aspects of a marriage, while a celebrant provides a personalised, non-legally binding ceremony that can be tailored to the couple's wishes.
Currently, in the UK, a marriage has to be registered by a church representative or registrar. You will need to go through the legal formalities at a registry office. Most couples do this a day or 2 before their wedding ceremony. Your celebrant ceremony is your bespoke and joyful wedding ceremony, witnessed by all your loved ones.
